My background
I began playing the violin in 3rd grade (over 30 years ago!), and in 9th grade I started playing the viola. I was principal violist in my high school’s Chamber Orchestra and Philharmonic Orchestra. I graduated from Brigham Young University with a Bachelor’s degree in Elementary Education and put my musical interests on hold while I taught school, married, and started a family. I have 4 children, who have all taken piano lessons, so I understand what it's like to be a music parent as well as a music teacher. I began teaching violin in March 2018 and absolutely love it! It perfectly combines my passions for education, children, and music.
My philosophy
I prepare each student for success by learning their musical strengths and interests, developing a relationship of trust and mutual respect, and pointing out the positive. Learning the violin involves training both the body and the mind. It requires consistent effort; practice makes progress, and progress makes it fun and exciting!
Availability
I am accepting violin students ages 6 and up. Lessons are held once a week for 35 minutes.
